Breast Reductions
Breast reduction surgery is very similar to a breast lift in that a reduction does result in a significant degree of lift. This can be clearly seen in the postoperative images when compared to the before images. The two most common reasons that women request breast reductions are either to reduce the size of large breasts from an appearance aspect, or to reduce the pain and discomfort in the neck, back and shoulder regions from the dragging effect of large breasts. This latter effect is noticeable immediately on waking from the anaesthetic.
Case 1432Patient Age : 38 Height & Weight : 172cm - 90kg Pre-Op Bra Size : 16F Post-Op Bra Size : 16DD Case Notes:Patient requested a reduction to remove her dragging pain and discomfort from her neck, shoulders and back. Vertical pattern breast reduction with incisions around the areola and vertical below the areola. No horizontal skin crease incision required underneath the breast. Of note are the changes related to certain body landmarks. Please note the relation of the bottom of the breasts to the navel and the elbow crease. Before, the bottom of the breasts are at the level of or below the elbow crease. Postoperatively, the bottom of the breasts are well above the elbow. 'After' photos were taken approximately 3 months post operatively with the incision scarring and slight swelling to continue to diminish over the following 6 months. | ![]() | ![]() |
Case 1576Patient Age : 48 Height & Weight : 170cm - 71kg Pre-Op Bra Size : 12E Post-Op Bra Size : 12C Case Notes:Patient requested a small reduction, just sufficient to remove her dragging pain and discomfort from her neck, shoulders and back. Dr Goldman performed a vertical pattern reduction mammoplasty with incisions around the areola and vertical below areolar incision. Breast tissue removed: 225g right and 194g from the left breast. Please note that the breast lift effect is very well demonstrated in this case. It is important here to point out that this latter effect is much longer lasting than a pure breast lift procedure. This is why Dr. Goldman often prefers a breast reduction procedure to achieve lift rather than a pure breast lift procedure. 'After' photos were taken approximately 3 months post operatively with the incision scarring and slight swelling to continue to diminish over the following 6 months. | ![]() | ![]() |
Case 1588Patient Age : 46 Height & Weight : 178cm - 109kg Pre-Op Bra Size : 24F Post-Op Bra Size : 18DD Case Notes:Patient requested a reduction to remove her dragging pain and discomfort from her neck, shoulders and back. Vertical pattern reduction mammoplasty with incisions around the areola and vertical below areolar incision. No horizontal skin crease incision required underneath the breast. Breast tissue removed: 897g right and 1040g from the left breast. On occasion, associated (at the time of the procedure) or secondary (at some time after the original procedure), liposculpture may be necessary as in this case to remove the excess fatty areas below and in front of the armpits. 'After' photos were taken approximately 3 months post operatively with the incision scarring and slight swelling to continue to diminish over the following 6 months. | ![]() | ![]() |
Case 1563Patient Age : 19 Height & Weight : 170cm - 77kg Pre-Op Bra Size : 16E Post-Op Bra Size : 12D Case Notes:This patient requested a reduction to remove her dragging pain and discomfort from her neck, shoulders and back. Also she was embarrassed about the size and drooping nature of her breasts. Vertical pattern reduction mammoplasty with incisions around the areola and vertical below areolar incision. No horizontal skin crease incision required underneath the breast. Breast tissue removed: 569g right and 602g from the left breast. Please note that once again that the breast lift effect is very well demonstrated in this case and will be much longer lasting than a pure breast lift procedure. 'After' photos were taken approximately 3 months post operatively with the incision scarring and slight swelling to continue to diminish over the following 6 months. No 'Before' photos available. | ![]() |
