Breast Lift Aftercare

The pain associated with breast lift surgery varies from person to person.

In general, it is not considered to be particularly painful. There may be pain for the first 24 hours and discomfort for perhaps one to two weeks. Dr Goldman will ensure that you have adequate pain medication, however most patients cope very well with minimal need for medication.

Following the surgery you will have dressings applied that cover the incision sites which will restrict your ability to shower fully in the first week following surgery. The original dressing applied at the conclusion of the surgery MUST remain intact for the first 2 weeks. A compression bra may or may not be required to be worn during the first week or two after the operation and this is decided by Dr Goldman on a case by case basis.

It is recommended that patients take two weeks off after Breast Lift surgery. If your job involves any form of heavy lifting or straining of any kind, your time off work may need to be extended. During this time you should avoid most household duties. You will need to avoid aerobics and other strenuous exercise until approximately six weeks after your surgery. If you have any specific concerns then they should be raised with your Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr Goldman.

There will have a review consultation with Dr Goldman 14 days after surgery. You will subsequently be seen by Dr Goldman both 6 weeks and 3 months from your date of cosmetic surgery.
