Breast Lift Perth

Why get a breast lift (mastopexy) surgery?

Due to aging, pregnancy, and gravity, breasts tend to change over time. The aging process gradually reduces the elasticity of the skin as well as reduces the strength of the ligaments that assist in retaining the breasts structure – it’s natural.

Decrease in breast volume, change in shape and positioning of the nipples, and sagging of the breasts are the most common reasons to get a breast lift.

ASYMMETRY

Breast asymmetry is incredibly common and natural. If you wish to change the shape or size of your breasts, talk to Dr Goldman about a breast augmentation procedure. Breast implants are designed to create asymmetry or can be used to create natural breast asymmetry following a mastectomy.

POST WEIGHT LOSS

It's common to experience reduced breast size and excess skin after significant weight loss. Some women choose to undergo a breast augmentation. To understand what options are available, talk to Dr Goldman.

Types of Breast Lift Procedures

There are three major procedures the surgeon can undertake after discussing the options during your consultation.

Breast Lift Perth

Periareolar

The procedure with the smallest incision. A half circle is made along the dark outline of the areola.

This option is ideal for individuals with low nipple placement and is most commonly done in conjunction with breast augmentation procedures.

Breast Lift Perth

Lollipop

An incision encircling the areola and a vertical incision are made from the bottom of the areola to the base of the breast, creating a lollipop-shaped incision.

The lollipop incision breast lift is ideal for breast contouring and for patients with low hanging breasts.

Breast Lift Perth

Anchor

An incision shaped like an upside down “T” starting from the base of the areola is made.
This is the best option for patients with extreme breast overhang and is usually done in conjunction with breast reduction procedures.

Things to consider before a Breast Lift

There are a number of things to take into consideration when deciding to have a breast lift. Choosing whether you require breast implants or not is an important part of the decision-making process. So too is the shape and size of your breast lift that ultimately suits you best. Another important consideration is whether you are still planning to have children after the procedure – pregnancy and breastfeeding are likely to stretch your breasts and potentially counteract the results of your breast lift.

To make the best choices for you and give you the results you desire, it is imperative to have the right information and to be guided through the process by an experienced cosmetic surgeon. During a professional consultation with Dr. Goldman he will guide you through each step and provide you with extensive reading material to take home which will assist you in the decision-making process.

Options

Consultation

At the consultation with Dr Goldman, it will help if you have an expectation of the result that you are looking for. Although Dr Goldman is happy to discuss photos of women who have had breast augmentations, it’s important to remember that all bodies are different and what works for some women may not be realistic for others. Dr Goldman will discuss this at the consultation.

Choosing the right size and shape of breast implants is a partnership between you and the cosmetic surgeon; there are a number of important steps that you will go through during the consultation to determine the best breast size for you. These steps include detailed measurements of your chest and breasts, reviewing a series of before and after photographs of patients, and viewing the complete range of Breast Implants in their various shapes and sizes.

Aftercare

Throughout the complete process, from your initial consultation, right through to aftercare, Dr. Goldman and his staff are committed to ensuring you achieve the best results from your cosmetic surgery by offering you the highest level of professional care and ongoing support.

All patients receive Dr. Goldman’s number for queries or concerns after the surgery and are entitled to as many reviews as necessary.

After the procedure: You will be able to go home after the procedure and will need to ensure that you have someone to take you home after your surgery. Your breasts will likely feel uncomfortable for the first few days so a relaxing first 2 days post-surgery is advised.

1 week after operation: Breasts will still feel slightly uncomfortable and sore which can be rectified with pain medication prescribed by Dr Goldman.

Scarring will become visible and you will be advised to wear a surgical bra with adjustable straps.
We recommend taking a week off work, especially if your work involves upper body movement.
Avoid heavy lifting or strenuous exercises. Light exercises like walking and activities around the house are permitted.

2 weeks after operation: Two weeks after your surgery you’ll have your first review with Dr Goldman. He will assess the healing process, scarring and the overall results of the procedure and will discuss any concerns you may have.

6 weeks after operation: You will begin to see a visible reduction in scars from 4 weeks post operation onwards. There will be a formal review for you to discuss any concerns and for Dr. Goldman to ensure that the healing process is well and truly underway.

12 weeks after operation: The 12-month review should indicate whether the patient is ready to resume physical activities as before.  It is advised that the patient refrains from strenuous exercise unless specified by the Doctor.

There is a total of 5 formal reviews that will take place in the span of 12 months post-surgery. After the first year, the patient will have 1 formal review every year to ensure good breast health.  The patient is entitled to as many reviews as required.
